Hard Copy Submission Day!
Today is Thur. It's the submission of all the hard copy. I am compiling the blogs and the group's work now including storyboard and all for submission. Will see you guys again before hol really starts. ((:
LAST DAY OF P1!
Yes, you read the title correctly,it's the last day!
At last hols are here.
Well, let me say all i have to say about P1, it's the last blog entry! Pardon me.
So today, Germ and I met at 10 to finish the rendering and we thought since we had time, maybe we should do color correction cause we had some really bad lighted scenes. So, we sat down, started to work on it and it took us quite some time, but the video look better now although it isn't really awesome. Colors correction has a limit to what it can do! So after all these were done, we rendered it and exported it into the tape which took quite some time. And thank you to the lecturers for the grace given! I know it's our fault for rendering it last min and Germ and I told ourselves that last minute work is really terrible and in future we would not allow anything like that to happen. I remember in some other modules, finishing up the work 1 day before submission was really good, you had 1 extra day to relax. Well anyway, thank you to Raj and Jem for helping us. Thanxs loads! ((:
At last, it was the screenings of all the works. I could see that many groups put it their best effort! Most of the works were awesome and i esp. liked stickman productions and Snaps'. I thought they met the objective and had good effects! Crewsade had wonderful effects, as expected! ((: Well, my group didn't did that bad, i guess and i hope. LOL. At least, i am sure all of us put in our best effort to make Looney Bin productions' work a succes. Well done fellow group mates.
So all these months of hard work, sleepless nights and also panick is over! Below are my reflections over this 2 months of MOI P1.
Well, i personally thought that MOI P1 was really useful and it has taught me much beyond all the lessons that we've learnt. The entire group went through a lot of trials, like of giving in to each other and also learning to compromise. Our group is made up of strong-headed peoples so we would defintely have some disagreements and all but we've learnt to listen instead of just shooting each others' ideas down. In addition, it helped that the objective of this project was to document our Journey in Year 1 because it is something close to heart and we all had something in common as a group that we wanted to showcase.
To be honest, it wasn't really a good experience all the way though the entire process because there were times when we made stupid mistakes like not saving, using the wrong programmes, having to wait for one another when we were late, causing the production to be delayed and times when we were short of members. But, these are times that have taught all of us important lessons.
MOI P1 is like a journey for all of us, a journey whereby we all learnt precious things like how to work with different types of people, and learning more about ourselves and how we work. I have realised that there are much more to learn than what we originally thought we know. It makes me look forward to more projects in future, because i know, it's doing stuffs like these that teach me more and working in a group was never an easy thing and P1 helped me learnt what a team is, it's not about me but us and it's not about, i think i am better so i should take all the work,or i think i'm tire so i should just skip meetings. It's about ensuring all members know what is going on and is committed to what they are doing.
I am glad i've learnt something through this project and was committed instead of just doing it for submission sake.
All in all, a loud shout out to fellow Looney Bins members, you guys were great although we had problems with punctuality and absent members at times. We still managed to work as a group and productions would never be the same without you all. I am glad that as a team we could compromise and listen to each other's ideas and try to stick with the schedule and get things done. We helped out with what we could and that's what i think makes a great team!
P1 is over now so let's all relax and party! YEAH!
And... thanxs to all the lectures who were constantly willing to help us along and giving us ideas to improve, and our lecturer, Wahidah for her constant reminders along the way that ensured we stick to our schedule and to all the friends that showed us what it means to be a friend. ((:
THANK YOU. ((:
i conclude that P1 was great.

DAY 29, 30
It's the final lap like Germ says it. Today is Day 29, two more days to submission! As predicted, we were rushing mad! Doing our final aniamtions and editing.
Germ, Kirin and I stayed till 11 plus to rush the editings. Good news, we're almost complete!
Germ did audio editing, video editing and finalised the bloopers. btw, her audio editing skills are awesome. Also, she did a final round of check for the bloopers to ensure she got the correct cuttings done and that it was sufficent before passing it for me to work on the credits. She also basically pieced up the work we had all done into premier, so when it comes to editing, everything goes smoothly! And, her four animated figures coming to class, sch was really great effort! The flying part is good!
I touch up on my Alan animation. And btw, did i say,i faced a huge problem with the constant moving camera and it was really hard trying to make the animation synchronize with the moving camera.
But, Germ gave me the idea to make the animated Alan come out later and also that when the camera moves to a certain angle, we wouldn't have to show him, and it helped a lot. I re do the back part which i have done at home and now at least it looks ok. After the animation work, i worked on the credits showed with bloopers together with Kirin. We used after effects for the credits and the end work. After Effects is awesome, i mean the way you can play around to create beautiful effect and i realsied through this proj that after effects isn't that scary afterall. Yes, i thought it was all along! I typed out the video concept and created the effect for silent movie! imovie is awesome!
Kirin helped me with the credits and retype the script and did the photography animation. It was good, the little Germ holding on to the sign!
Jas did the 2D art fun animation and helped Kirin along with the other animations. Good job to all! The animation was all completed by today. The work over the weekeneds really helped! Btw, thanks to Tri for teaching me how to do the roll- up credits more smoothly! Thank you so much! The credits looks better now!
So for today, which is Tue, all we are left with is to join the credits and bloopers, the silent movie all together. Then, we will include in the final audio editing and the warping effects. And all should be done!
Kirin left to complete her other module work and Jas went off around 8pm plus as she had to go to her Grandma house. Jas added in my animated figures for the 2D fun before she went off. W
e wasted a lot of time today doing rendering, saving, exporting and all. The bloopers were kind of choopy and some parts were slowed down after the rendering, so we had to re-render and checked the seetings over again.
Germ and I stayed till 11 plus. And during that period of time, we met pro with slow coms, using the wrong pro for warping effect and having to re-do it and also the audio. But, we told ourseleves to slowly adjust it all and at last, we finished all of it but not rendering. We got chased out by the security guards so rendering would be done tomorrow. We've decided to meet at 10 to give ourselves sufficient time.
Btw, thanxs Apple for telling us Premier could do warping effects and had the one we wanted.
At first, we used Pemier to cut up the wanted parts, then import into After Effects and manually adjusted the different types of warp we could choose from. We had to do the opacity and also the width and all. We finally finished it all, but wasnt happy at all because it wasn't the warp we first wanted.
We then took a break and watched Apple's group video and it had the warp we wanted. So, Germ and I was exclaiming "where did you find that?" And she told us Premier Pro and we were like, so we put in all these efforts for nothing! So we decided to quickly re-do it after Apple taught us how to get it. The warp was good and what we wanted. Quite glad and relieved!
It may be a small matter but it taught me that all these progs are there for us to explore it. We have to explore it on our own free time if we want to excel, instead of just waiting to be taught. So, we are all done and tml is the last day! LAST DAY! ((:

DAY 27 and 28
We have splitted all the work up accordingly and given different tasks for each other. The different part of animations, audio editing.
I wil be doing the animated text for intro for Jas and Kirin because since only i have the quicktime file with me now.
We paired up and each pair had two animations to do. It allows us to help each other along the way and also to learn from each other.
So, we have started animations and me and germ decided to stay home to finish our different parts.Germ will be animating the four figures entering school and class while i will be doing Alan. This is the splitted work for animation. Jas and Kirin will be doing COMDI and signboards animation.
Sun: We were supposed to meet up but i've got fever. Sorry people! And so, i continued to work on the Alan animation at home today. The rest continue with their animation as well. We have also decided that everything have to be put together by Mon for the final editing and checks. Also, i had cut up the front parts of where the animated figures holding the signboard would be for Jas so that she can work on it. AND AND AND, i stupidly forgot to save my animation work of Alan and the battery went off and now, i have to re-do my work. KILLS.I was almost done! So for now, i am working on the animation again!
When we meet tml, we will put all the work together and add in the audio. Then on tue, we can render our stuffs.Anh hopefully be done by then.
Below are some pictures of the character design of the four figures. We actually got the ideas from some pictures and i came up with different versions of what we wanted to use. Then, Germaine did the final character design for it and tad da... below is the four figures that will be animated! Me, Germ, Kirin and Jas!

DAY 25 and 26
On Friday, we didn't meet up cause i had something on and Germ had her 'oh so impt' concert! LOL! Anyway, we decided to take that day off.
Today, we met up in sch, but Jas was sick and we only saved the video in her com without backup so we couldn't really do anything but she is rendering it at home now and when we get the rendered one, we will start on the editing and animating

DAY 23, 24
We edited our video in premier today using Jass' laptop. We did a rough cut and got a general idea about how long the video would be. It all came up to around 7 mins and so and we decided to add in bloopers in addition with the credits. Firstly, because we need to fill up the time and also it meets the groups' theme: Comedy.
Also, although we have the shot list, it wasn't really useful because we didn't upload each scene each time we finish it. So we learnt a lesson, to always update after each scs. It cuts down confusion and the shot list becomes really useful and also it fasten the entire editing process.
Day 24: Jas's sick! Take good care, jas!
Because of this, the whole group couldn't edit our work since it's in her com. and so, we decided to work on our character design. We then drew out the character of the four aniamted figures and also tried out the colorings for the animanted alan. We finished the drawings today and did photocopy for in case we lost ours.
Good job so far and people we have to start animations and all soon!

DAY 21 AND 22
On Day 21, i came to school with Germ to meet Wahida to show her the rough cuts, but in the end we didn't got to show her because we wanted to capture it into premier. I left early and Germ stayed and capture it from the cam to premier and edited a bit of the front. Thanxs Germ! ((:
For Day 22,Kirin, Germ and me met up in school. I came later and so Kirin and Germ went to update Wahida about our process. When i came, they told me that 3D lab which we wanted to use for editing was closed for two days due to FYP, so we transfered the files to wendy's hard drive. By the time we got it back, it was late, so we all just did tramsfering and the editing tml!
We thought of seperating the animation parts and work in pair. So as to fasten the process and also we can help each other along the way.
GOOD JOB PPL!((:
