Hard Copy Submission Day!
Today is Thur. It's the submission of all the hard copy. I am compiling the blogs and the group's work now including storyboard and all for submission. Will see you guys again before hol really starts. ((:
LAST DAY OF P1!
Yes, you read the title correctly,it's the last day!
At last hols are here.
Well, let me say all i have to say about P1, it's the last blog entry! Pardon me.
So today, Germ and I met at 10 to finish the rendering and we thought since we had time, maybe we should do color correction cause we had some really bad lighted scenes. So, we sat down, started to work on it and it took us quite some time, but the video look better now although it isn't really awesome. Colors correction has a limit to what it can do! So after all these were done, we rendered it and exported it into the tape which took quite some time. And thank you to the lecturers for the grace given! I know it's our fault for rendering it last min and Germ and I told ourselves that last minute work is really terrible and in future we would not allow anything like that to happen. I remember in some other modules, finishing up the work 1 day before submission was really good, you had 1 extra day to relax. Well anyway, thank you to Raj and Jem for helping us. Thanxs loads! ((:
At last, it was the screenings of all the works. I could see that many groups put it their best effort! Most of the works were awesome and i esp. liked stickman productions and Snaps'. I thought they met the objective and had good effects! Crewsade had wonderful effects, as expected! ((: Well, my group didn't did that bad, i guess and i hope. LOL. At least, i am sure all of us put in our best effort to make Looney Bin productions' work a succes. Well done fellow group mates.
So all these months of hard work, sleepless nights and also panick is over! Below are my reflections over this 2 months of MOI P1.
Well, i personally thought that MOI P1 was really useful and it has taught me much beyond all the lessons that we've learnt. The entire group went through a lot of trials, like of giving in to each other and also learning to compromise. Our group is made up of strong-headed peoples so we would defintely have some disagreements and all but we've learnt to listen instead of just shooting each others' ideas down. In addition, it helped that the objective of this project was to document our Journey in Year 1 because it is something close to heart and we all had something in common as a group that we wanted to showcase.
To be honest, it wasn't really a good experience all the way though the entire process because there were times when we made stupid mistakes like not saving, using the wrong programmes, having to wait for one another when we were late, causing the production to be delayed and times when we were short of members. But, these are times that have taught all of us important lessons.
MOI P1 is like a journey for all of us, a journey whereby we all learnt precious things like how to work with different types of people, and learning more about ourselves and how we work. I have realised that there are much more to learn than what we originally thought we know. It makes me look forward to more projects in future, because i know, it's doing stuffs like these that teach me more and working in a group was never an easy thing and P1 helped me learnt what a team is, it's not about me but us and it's not about, i think i am better so i should take all the work,or i think i'm tire so i should just skip meetings. It's about ensuring all members know what is going on and is committed to what they are doing.
I am glad i've learnt something through this project and was committed instead of just doing it for submission sake.
All in all, a loud shout out to fellow Looney Bins members, you guys were great although we had problems with punctuality and absent members at times. We still managed to work as a group and productions would never be the same without you all. I am glad that as a team we could compromise and listen to each other's ideas and try to stick with the schedule and get things done. We helped out with what we could and that's what i think makes a great team!
P1 is over now so let's all relax and party! YEAH!
And... thanxs to all the lectures who were constantly willing to help us along and giving us ideas to improve, and our lecturer, Wahidah for her constant reminders along the way that ensured we stick to our schedule and to all the friends that showed us what it means to be a friend. ((:
THANK YOU. ((:
i conclude that P1 was great.

DAY 29, 30
It's the final lap like Germ says it. Today is Day 29, two more days to submission! As predicted, we were rushing mad! Doing our final aniamtions and editing.
Germ, Kirin and I stayed till 11 plus to rush the editings. Good news, we're almost complete!
Germ did audio editing, video editing and finalised the bloopers. btw, her audio editing skills are awesome. Also, she did a final round of check for the bloopers to ensure she got the correct cuttings done and that it was sufficent before passing it for me to work on the credits. She also basically pieced up the work we had all done into premier, so when it comes to editing, everything goes smoothly! And, her four animated figures coming to class, sch was really great effort! The flying part is good!
I touch up on my Alan animation. And btw, did i say,i faced a huge problem with the constant moving camera and it was really hard trying to make the animation synchronize with the moving camera.
But, Germ gave me the idea to make the animated Alan come out later and also that when the camera moves to a certain angle, we wouldn't have to show him, and it helped a lot. I re do the back part which i have done at home and now at least it looks ok. After the animation work, i worked on the credits showed with bloopers together with Kirin. We used after effects for the credits and the end work. After Effects is awesome, i mean the way you can play around to create beautiful effect and i realsied through this proj that after effects isn't that scary afterall. Yes, i thought it was all along! I typed out the video concept and created the effect for silent movie! imovie is awesome!
Kirin helped me with the credits and retype the script and did the photography animation. It was good, the little Germ holding on to the sign!
Jas did the 2D art fun animation and helped Kirin along with the other animations. Good job to all! The animation was all completed by today. The work over the weekeneds really helped! Btw, thanks to Tri for teaching me how to do the roll- up credits more smoothly! Thank you so much! The credits looks better now!
So for today, which is Tue, all we are left with is to join the credits and bloopers, the silent movie all together. Then, we will include in the final audio editing and the warping effects. And all should be done!
Kirin left to complete her other module work and Jas went off around 8pm plus as she had to go to her Grandma house. Jas added in my animated figures for the 2D fun before she went off. W
e wasted a lot of time today doing rendering, saving, exporting and all. The bloopers were kind of choopy and some parts were slowed down after the rendering, so we had to re-render and checked the seetings over again.
Germ and I stayed till 11 plus. And during that period of time, we met pro with slow coms, using the wrong pro for warping effect and having to re-do it and also the audio. But, we told ourseleves to slowly adjust it all and at last, we finished all of it but not rendering. We got chased out by the security guards so rendering would be done tomorrow. We've decided to meet at 10 to give ourselves sufficient time.
Btw, thanxs Apple for telling us Premier could do warping effects and had the one we wanted.
At first, we used Pemier to cut up the wanted parts, then import into After Effects and manually adjusted the different types of warp we could choose from. We had to do the opacity and also the width and all. We finally finished it all, but wasnt happy at all because it wasn't the warp we first wanted.
We then took a break and watched Apple's group video and it had the warp we wanted. So, Germ and I was exclaiming "where did you find that?" And she told us Premier Pro and we were like, so we put in all these efforts for nothing! So we decided to quickly re-do it after Apple taught us how to get it. The warp was good and what we wanted. Quite glad and relieved!
It may be a small matter but it taught me that all these progs are there for us to explore it. We have to explore it on our own free time if we want to excel, instead of just waiting to be taught. So, we are all done and tml is the last day! LAST DAY! ((:

DAY 27 and 28
We have splitted all the work up accordingly and given different tasks for each other. The different part of animations, audio editing.
I wil be doing the animated text for intro for Jas and Kirin because since only i have the quicktime file with me now.
We paired up and each pair had two animations to do. It allows us to help each other along the way and also to learn from each other.
So, we have started animations and me and germ decided to stay home to finish our different parts.Germ will be animating the four figures entering school and class while i will be doing Alan. This is the splitted work for animation. Jas and Kirin will be doing COMDI and signboards animation.
Sun: We were supposed to meet up but i've got fever. Sorry people! And so, i continued to work on the Alan animation at home today. The rest continue with their animation as well. We have also decided that everything have to be put together by Mon for the final editing and checks. Also, i had cut up the front parts of where the animated figures holding the signboard would be for Jas so that she can work on it. AND AND AND, i stupidly forgot to save my animation work of Alan and the battery went off and now, i have to re-do my work. KILLS.I was almost done! So for now, i am working on the animation again!
When we meet tml, we will put all the work together and add in the audio. Then on tue, we can render our stuffs.Anh hopefully be done by then.
Below are some pictures of the character design of the four figures. We actually got the ideas from some pictures and i came up with different versions of what we wanted to use. Then, Germaine did the final character design for it and tad da... below is the four figures that will be animated! Me, Germ, Kirin and Jas!

DAY 25 and 26
On Friday, we didn't meet up cause i had something on and Germ had her 'oh so impt' concert! LOL! Anyway, we decided to take that day off.
Today, we met up in sch, but Jas was sick and we only saved the video in her com without backup so we couldn't really do anything but she is rendering it at home now and when we get the rendered one, we will start on the editing and animating

DAY 23, 24
We edited our video in premier today using Jass' laptop. We did a rough cut and got a general idea about how long the video would be. It all came up to around 7 mins and so and we decided to add in bloopers in addition with the credits. Firstly, because we need to fill up the time and also it meets the groups' theme: Comedy.
Also, although we have the shot list, it wasn't really useful because we didn't upload each scene each time we finish it. So we learnt a lesson, to always update after each scs. It cuts down confusion and the shot list becomes really useful and also it fasten the entire editing process.
Day 24: Jas's sick! Take good care, jas!
Because of this, the whole group couldn't edit our work since it's in her com. and so, we decided to work on our character design. We then drew out the character of the four aniamted figures and also tried out the colorings for the animanted alan. We finished the drawings today and did photocopy for in case we lost ours.
Good job so far and people we have to start animations and all soon!

DAY 21 AND 22
On Day 21, i came to school with Germ to meet Wahida to show her the rough cuts, but in the end we didn't got to show her because we wanted to capture it into premier. I left early and Germ stayed and capture it from the cam to premier and edited a bit of the front. Thanxs Germ! ((:
For Day 22,Kirin, Germ and me met up in school. I came later and so Kirin and Germ went to update Wahida about our process. When i came, they told me that 3D lab which we wanted to use for editing was closed for two days due to FYP, so we transfered the files to wendy's hard drive. By the time we got it back, it was late, so we all just did tramsfering and the editing tml!
We thought of seperating the animation parts and work in pair. So as to fasten the process and also we can help each other along the way.
GOOD JOB PPL!((:

Day 20
It's the end of filming. We all did the last part today, the animation fundamentals and photography.
The animation part was about me and so i had to act. Germ part was the photography one. My punched eye was wierd and the green monster was really mean! LOL.
Good job every one. We all worked really well and although there were some changes to original camera angles in the storyboard, it was good!
Through this period of production, i have learnt through all the good and bad experiences. The camera might not always function as we want to, there may be time that the slightest mistakes means a great deal, but i've learnt that in filming, during production periods, a team is what makes the film works. Every one plays a role and we all got to put in our best into these roles assigned to ensure smooth filming. In addition, filming requires commitiment and i've realised communications is very very important, every one should be clear of the script and storyboard before filming actually starts. In general, i thought our group worked well through productions and i am really proud to have you guys as team mates. ((:
Tml Wahida will be watching the rough cuts of what we have done so far for filming.

DAY 18-19
On Day 18, we didn't really shoot, because Kirin was sick and we told Jas not to come to sch as, she stays quite some distance away and it would be wasting her time. So me and germ met in school to first help Yi Chuin group out.
After that, we shoot our own intro again, but it didn't really worked out. But anyway, thanxs a lot, to Shol,Jy,Clinton for helping.
Day 19, we got Yi Chuin and Shermin to help us for the introduction again. We got the perfect take after few NGS and it was much better than the rest. Thanks to all who helped us for intro. We moved on to shoot the ComDi scenes and it was good few takes and when we were done, Yi Chuins' group needed our help and SOO, we helped them out.
After a hr or so, they were done, so we moved on to shoot our classroom scenes. There was quite a number of different scenes to be done so we decided to do a master shot whereby we get a general idea of all scenes before breaking it up into different camera angles. It went smoothly and there were changes from the original storyboard and some disagreements about the angles but we resolved it and the entire outcome was good. We had fun, really.
So, for tomorrow, we would be shooting animation and photography. Mine and Germs' turn. OHHHHHHH. and the butterfly is so pretty. ((:
have fun u all!

Day 17
Today we finish 1/4 of the shooting. Were supposed to shoot the ComDi and all the classroom scenes but we were informed by Zaihan to bring our 2D paintings up so we thought why not finish up our 2D Fund including the silent movie. Yup, thought it was pretty much work done, good job!
We had quite a number of NGS for most scenes and we learnt a lot today like how the camera movement can affect the interest level of the video and all. We adjusted some from the originals to make it better. Like for instance, the one where Jas was poking the animated Alan and we thought it would be better if the camera were to zoom into the two of them from a distance and the effect turned out pretty good.
So, for tml, we would work on re-shooting the intro and ComDi and classrooms scenes and work on the animation for the green monsters.

DAY 15 & 16
Day 15 was interim assesment. Well, our group was able to gather all our work for presentation last min and i thought we did our interim pretty well. I mean at least we seen progress in someway. We showed the unedited version of our intro, storyboard, our charcter design, timeline and progress.
Well, we have to reshoot the introduction, the story is long long long. If you want to know what happen, look for me and ask me! LOL! i will be most glad to tell you.
Also, the group has done up a new timeline, will be typing it out for the rest, yup. Hopefully, this time round everything can go according to the plan and we will finish up our work on time. Germ and me realised we were quite behind time but we have decided as a group to really step up on it, we will start working from Mon onwards. Go Looney Bins productions! ((:
For now, we will take our break and when work starts rolling in next week, we will not fall under the stress. Animation is going to be tough, many sleepless nights, hahaha, but i'm sure we will be able to do a good job out of it.
So yes, lt's all try to keep on track for now and when P1's over we will all be like proud of our work and can go celebrate!

DAY 14
Today, we shot the introduction. We had the reference video from yesterday and all the timings sort out from yesterday so the filming was actually quite smooth.
Other than the fact that radom people appeared along the way and some even looked into the camera which left us with no choice but to call for retake.
It was interesting because we learnt that although everything is well- planned, not everything will go smoothly because of different circumstances. So, we've got to learn to act on the spot. We tried to clear the people by having them walking on the other side where we were not filming.
Special thanxs to Raj, Jem, Yvonne and Rina for the casting.and wendy and greg for waiting.((:
tml is the interim, so yeah, will be showing storyboard, character design and stuffs.

DAY 13
The first day of FILMING!
It was fun, i've to admit. Although we faced some problems at the start, with the tape not being able to be played back, we solved it with the help of Whidah and the loan shop uncle. Thanks people!
We started filming on a used tape. It worked well and yeah, below is what we have done today.
- the shots of staircase, school and classroom for the animated figures
- brief reference shot for the introduction to guide us tml
So yeah, we did two parts today. Pretty good, thumbs up.
We had a few NGS for the classroom shot because we were observing the angles and the composition to make this sc more interesting. We tried a few variations of camera angle and shot size and finally finalized after 4 NGS. Perfection is important, ok!
Then, since we had some time, we decided to work on a brief reference shot for our introduction which we will be filming tml. As the group all agreed that timing was the most crucial for the introduction to turn out well, we all thought that it would be good to do a first trial where we jot down the various exact timing for different things happening along the way when jasmine enters into design school. The reference filming for today worked out pretty well, we got the timing for all the different parts and the first trial was smooth. Hope tmls' will be a success.
Keep going people, and it's just like around 30 more days left! ((:

DAY 12
DAY 12! The last day for final checking of scripts before the actual shooting begins tml.
We waited quite sometime for our script to be reviewed and comments to be given. Yes, for 2 hrs i guess. So, during this time, the team went to have lunch and chat and catch up and waited.
Then, after the long long wait, we finally could get comments from Wahidah regarding the scripts. Actually, this was already the second time she reviewed our script, so, the major problems she addressed the first time was all solved. Somehow, we took her suggestions and combined it with our own and changed some parts for the 2nd draft this time round. And, yes, we did improve it by introducing the animated figures not only in their own parts but also along the way throughout the video. Thought it was pretty interesting.
Anyway, after asking us some questions regarding the script, and hearing out comments on it, Wahidah approved it and we were given the go to start filming.
HAPPY LOONEY BINS! HAHAHA ((:

DAY 9, 10, 11
As you all can see, this's a really late entry, but well, at least i am updating! Basically, these three days were all the last few stages of our pre-production before we start filming on Day 13. We had to ensure the neccesary stuffs were done up and ready so that everything can go smoothly during filming.
Below is the checklist of everything we have gathered and done so far for preproduction.
- Scripts (Drafts and final ones)
- Storyboard (Drafts and final ones)
- Site Recce (pictures)
- Timeline
- Shot list
- Equipment and location
So, the above are what we have done nd improved on over these three days. It was a lot of drafts, re-editing of previous drafts before we got to our final products for the pre-production.
For the storyboard, we faced problems with the scenes number being in the same timing as the script as for the first draft we forgot to add in some frames for what was mentioned in the script. We looked through it and added the required frames. In general, this problem was solved.
Due to the fact that the group had many ideas for the content, the script was constantly changing. So, we settled down and talk about it, discuss and finally came to the conclusion of how we want the video to be. We have also decided to use the small animated figures along the way in the film so as to make it interesting and allows the audience to feel connected and also the figures sort of guides the audience through our journey in year 1.
The Shot list was something Wahidah had us think about before we start actual production. She introduced this system to us whereby someone who jot down the start and end time of a particular sc and the number of takes for that sc. This is to ensure easy reference along the way when we need to track the correct take and also to ensure everything is in order. It was something new to me and i thought it was really a good invention. I mean jotting it down manually is a better way than remembering, at least at the end of the day, we have the information for smooth editing.
And, yes, we had a list of location and equipment required so as to facilitate the entire filming process, allowing us to gather what we need before we start.
In general, these three days were really useful. The group really got down to getting pre-production done up so that we can start fiming as scheduled.

DAY 8
I miss lesson today! Was feeling really sick and although i really wanted to go, i couldn't. But, in the afternoon i felt better after a nap and after eating my mum wonderfully cook porridge, i felt better and could go for my other lesson. BTW, my mum cooks really nice porridge, i guess i got my good cooking skills from her. NAH, kiddings, i dun really cook well.
Anyway,I then met up with the group first to check up what they had done in the morning. They showed me the script which they had written and i thought it was good. So i had it typed up and submitted a few hrs ago!
Well, nothing much for today, Kirin and Germ did the site reccee and tml they will show me and Jas the exact locations. Then, when we have submitted the proper formatted script and the audio visual thing, we would start shooting! Will show you guys some pics of the timeine, story board and our group logo by tml. Hopefully. Lol. See you all! ((:

DAY 7
Lessons again! But it was different, because most of us were still in the CNY mood, so school was kind of dreadful. HAHAHA.
But, we still managed to finish tons of stuffs today. Jas's still in Malyasia so the group got going with three members. We were cooperative, i meant really, and we got many stuffs worked out. The storyboard was completed and it made it easier for us to get the list which Alan told us about. The 'what we need' list. Most of pre production is done, what we need now is to write out the script and site reccee. We would do both tonorrow. In addition, the storyboard would be improved on, as in the drawings and all.
Btw, our group name is 'LOONEY BINS'. Cute name, isn't it? Still thanks to dictionary.com!
Oh yeah, the time line. We've done up the draft timeline, we still need Jas to confirm with us the dates.
We were on the task today although we drifted away with some discussions but we managed to get things done and today was really productive. Tomorrow will be better! ((:

DAY 6
DAY 6! Presentation.
Today, we had presentation, our group was kind of prepared and we each know what we had to present. It was pretty good just that we forgot some pointers which Alan told us to improve on. They are:
- include a list of props, actors/actress,location needed
We then realised that it was relly true as these stuffs ensures smooth filming for the group and we told ourselves we will get these stuffs down on Day 7. While for today, we have decided to work on the storyboard.
We saw how the other groups were kind of progressing fast and Germ and me were panicking. HAHAHA. Well, at least we are serious about our work ok. But, the two calm and steady Jas and Kirin told us not to worry because we will buck up and that we were actually on task.
The story board was done half way, which was pretty good progess. There was no hw for any of us as we all wanted to enjoy Chinese New Year. We told each other after Chinese New Year we would once again step up and make good progess.

DAY 5
HELLO!
Day 5 was kind of productive, or maybe i thought so, for my group. We started off with some notes from Wahidah informing us about what to include int he presentation. Actually, it was more like a checklist, cause wondeful Jasmine has already gotten the presentation done up.
Some points to note are:
. Evidence of orginazation and planning
- systematic, go through process and plan
. Design Aspect
- Graphic
- Sounds
- Effects
These are what should be shown in the presentation. We check back on ours and realised that we didn't include the individual responsibilty within the group and we took note of that. This points given by Wahidah was useful because it kept us on the right track for our first presentation.
Moving on, our group had discussions and realised that everything was pretty much done and we were left with storyboard before we start filming. We realised it was rather essential from Vid Fun. Storyboard allows us to make mistakes at that stage rather than making it wile filming. In addition, it improves planning anf ensures the smooth filming process. OK, enough about story boards' beauty! We did two page which was rather little. BUT, still it was good progress. Furthermore, along the way we changed the introduction of our video. We all thoguht that the into was kind of too abrupt. We have decided the new intro would be different and that it would consists of the journey from the bus stop to school. It would be pretty funny and nice. We had some discussion about whether to make the intro animated but thought that it would be wierd and decided to stick with video then animation.
Tml, we would still be working on story board after we have done our presentation. We would polish up the story board and finialise it. For the next week, Jasmine would be going to Malaysia for two days and we wold use this two days to make props and recce the location.
Yeah, so it's about all. So far, i am really pleased with the group beacuse every one dares to voice up and let our opinion be known, it is a good thing cause it prevents miscommunication along the way.
Well, my group is wonderful with wondeful peeps! ((:

DAY 4
Sorry for this really late entry, well was lazy and kind of tire to do this thing. But, i thought that procrastinating would be stupid and that i should really start working on these, so here i am today!
Well, 'Today' started of with Wahidah showing us some home videos and other stuffs. We learnt lots from the style about the background to observe when interviewing and how to make our videos more interesting by varying the cameras angles.
Moving on, our group had our usual discusson again. We finialised what each of us will be in charge of and also Jasmine agreed to work on the presentation slides for Tuesday. Was really nice of her. We then decided to come up with the points to include in the slides and some specific details so as to allow Jas to just collate instead of starting from stratch. Below are what we would include in our presentation:
. objectives
. aims
. effects
. choice of sounds
. target audience
. genre
. format
. different responsibility
. flow and content of the video
. how the introduction and ending would be
Yup! That's basically what we would include after much discussion.
In addition, we have decided to make our individual parts into a mesh where we would be showcasing the different modules. For some modules, we would be showcasing our works, others would be more of a play type of thing. We have decide to include:
. ComDi
. AniFun
. Photography
. 2d Art fun
Basically, that's about all. Oh yeah, we have also agreed to work on the flash back technique where every one would be chatting and then we warp into the past at the beginning. The story continues with us coming to sch and we would play with the angles to show the really huge school and then we warp back and start discussing about each individual. It would be a mesh and we would use interesting ways to showcase each modules.
Well, that is about it.See you all soon!
Keep going peeps!((:

Day3
IT'S DAY 3!
pretty fun day, because we had the chance to be exposed to good quality film clips, documentaries which so inspired us to do a even better job of coming up with interesting ideas than what we have. When i say so inspired, i really mean it. I mean if some one else can do it, my ever talented group can too! yay? ((:
well, didn't plan to meet the group up after the screenings in LT, but i met Germaine and Kirin. Good news, Kirin's better now. But, Jasmine's sick! oh no, the flu bug again. Get well soon, pretty! Well, since we had plans we just gave Kirin a brief idea of what we discussed yesterday and we told each other that the group would meet to plan the schedule and improve our original drafts further the next day. Today's viewings in the LT was good, it allowed me to think more and really come up with many other ideas. Will share with the rest tomorrow. Below are pointers I've gathered from today:
. Product: Documentation of our Journey ( The oh-I-so-have-to take note of thing!)
Alfie said something that made me go: We have really overlook this point.
. Does the nice video fills the objective or is it just nice.
He also told us that many people often settle with the first idea and we seldom think back if any area had to be improved and we just stay stagant at the first stage. So true and made me reflect some how the direction of how the project should go. In addition, i had extra pointers,
. using music to change, create the mood/ captivate the audience (got this point after the documentaries)
. Backdrop ( Essential), nice lighting to make object stand out. (Alfie's excellent point)
. To not oversee technical aspect (small technique details to watch for)
Well, that sums up most of today. I enjoyed all the documentaries and stuff today, was enlighting and also enriching.
To my group members:
Drink loads of water buddies and rmb the group will always work as one.

DAY 2
hello people. Today's the second day of Project 1.
Between, one of my group me,ber, Kirin, was sick and thus absent from class. I will keep you in prayers and you must get well soon, then the group's engine will function well once again.
Well, we found out that this blog didn't have to be that formal afterall, that we should include personal thoughts and reflections. Well, i guess that's what a diary was meant to be anyway.
Moving on, today's lesson was pretty useful in guiding us along the project.
Firstly, we started class with a review of all the blogs. I found out that different people have different styles of jotting down their notes for the project. In addition, we all realised that our blogs didn't really contain much information as required.
The class also got into a mini discussion as to what we really felt about dictating our entire work process with details of the projects into this blog. Some of the class mates were really against this idea as many thought that not only would it encourage a copy in work/ideas, but also the final project would no longer be interesting because everyone can read up the entire flow of the video in the blogs.
Well, at first, i thought that way too but after our lecturer told us that this was what would be expected if we went out into the society and took part in competitions. As in setting a blog and allowing every one else, even those participating to view your process was one of the requirement in the outside world. I kind of got what she was trying to tell us and i felt that having a blog to dictate the entire journey, process of the project wasn't really a bad thing afterall, at least it keeps us thinking about how much we have done and like what our course manager, Stephanie said, by typing it all out, it allows us to think about if the ideas we had was really good and is there any other way to improve it. The only way to reflect is not by merely thinking but also thinking and jotting it down. i thought that's really true and as for the copying of ideas, i think that it all lies in the discipline and integrity of the group, even if we did a good job out of copying another group's idea, we all would still defintely feel lousy about it, right? Designers design not copy. ((:
Now, after all the personal thoughts i will move on to jot in point form what the group/ class did today.
Firstly, we had a mini group presentation to guide us as to the main objective behind our video, the two points that we really wanted to tell the people about TDS. My group main points about what the video was going to tell were:
.a journey through flashbacks of how we all started out and the outcome, the video acts as a promotional work
.to allow them to know that we learn more than we expect in MOI, that we came in with literally nothing but are on the way to something now.
Secondly, we were given some links to view about documentaries and how to make a good one and stuff. I read some links and found it really useful, they contain essential stuffs to take note of. Some of them are:
. a documentary should have a significant lesson to be learned (in the case of our project, it would mean a objective to be brought across)
. Could others benefit by seeing the world through your eyes, watching you follow a particular person or group of people around as they do what they do (would the contents of our video actually benefits the students to answer their enquiry?)
. identify your eventual audience and keep them in mind as your documentary morphs toward its final form (student body and even parents)
.How do you want to approach your subject? (style, theme and even techniques)
.should be engaging and emotionally compelling
The above are just some general idea i have collated from a few sites given to us and I thought these would be useful to consider as we work on the project.
Moving on to what my group have done today. Basically, the group confirmed our idea for the video, the sound effects we want to add in and some software we would be using. Today was generally a in-depth to what we have discussed yesterday. We wanted to plan the schedule for group meetings and work but as Kirin wasn't around, we thought we could do it tomorrow so as to ensure we got the dates correctly and that she can follow-up with us, because we thought the schedule was essential for every one to be sure of. Theefore, we decided on the exact and in-depth flow of the video. For instance:
. the start would be a flashback (video), followed by other props we would be using after the warp to the past.
. the middle would have some camera and audio effects with photography and we wrote down excatly where and what to expect. the audio effect would be smth applicable and to our liking and defintely the target audience too.
. the individual part was left empty so that we could discuss with Kirin when she is bac tomorrow.
. we thought of adding a little twist of humor to the end which you guys would find out soon.
So, basically today is more about finialising the main details and improving some part. Hopefully, Kirin can join us tomorrow, then we will move on to the individual content and also the entire schedule.
hope every one have fun with P1 and i am looking foward to tomorrow, heard that we will be viewing some work for refernces, am sure it's going to help much with more improvments in our work! ((:
P.S: To my lovely grp members, keep going guys and BRUDDERS we will produce quality work yay! ((:

MOIP1
Today's the first day of MOIP1, we were gathered in the LT and given a general briefing before splitting into classes. Below are some point for personal reference given during the briefing session.
. The entire schedule for the 2 block
. stuffs that will be assess includes: final project, production diary, Interim assessment of work in progessand diary in progess, initial presentation.
. Final video in SD
. Intro 1 min, individual 2 mins, conclusion 1min (Timeline for video)
. four stages of process
In class, we formed our groups and were given quite a lot of time to brainstorm our ideas.
My group members are: Jasmine, Germaine, Kirin and myself.
We got to task quite quickly and sort of decided how we want the entire video to link and flow. Belwo are some points we have done and came up with.
. a mix of anim and video for intro and along the way objective:(allow us to showcase what we have learnt from the two fund)
. how we wanted to introduce each member for the 2 mins
. the main content, how it should end
. photography, allow us to make use of what we've learnt throughout the year 1
. brainstorm about ideas for the project and the effects in the video itself
In general, my group have got a rough idea of the entire flow of the video and pherhaps tomorrow we will split the responsibilty and improve the drafts more.
