hello people. Today's the second day of Project 1.
Between, one of my group me,ber, Kirin, was sick and thus absent from class. I will keep you in prayers and you must get well soon, then the group's engine will function well once again.
Well, we found out that this blog didn't have to be that formal afterall, that we should include personal thoughts and reflections. Well, i guess that's what a diary was meant to be anyway.
Moving on, today's lesson was pretty useful in guiding us along the project.
Firstly, we started class with a review of all the blogs. I found out that different people have different styles of jotting down their notes for the project. In addition, we all realised that our blogs didn't really contain much information as required.
The class also got into a mini discussion as to what we really felt about dictating our entire work process with details of the projects into this blog. Some of the class mates were really against this idea as many thought that not only would it encourage a copy in work/ideas, but also the final project would no longer be interesting because everyone can read up the entire flow of the video in the blogs.
Well, at first, i thought that way too but after our lecturer told us that this was what would be expected if we went out into the society and took part in competitions. As in setting a blog and allowing every one else, even those participating to view your process was one of the requirement in the outside world. I kind of got what she was trying to tell us and i felt that having a blog to dictate the entire journey, process of the project wasn't really a bad thing afterall, at least it keeps us thinking about how much we have done and like what our course manager, Stephanie said, by typing it all out, it allows us to think about if the ideas we had was really good and is there any other way to improve it. The only way to reflect is not by merely thinking but also thinking and jotting it down. i thought that's really true and as for the copying of ideas, i think that it all lies in the discipline and integrity of the group, even if we did a good job out of copying another group's idea, we all would still defintely feel lousy about it, right? Designers design not copy. ((:
Now, after all the personal thoughts i will move on to jot in point form what the group/ class did today.
Firstly, we had a mini group presentation to guide us as to the main objective behind our video, the two points that we really wanted to tell the people about TDS. My group main points about what the video was going to tell were:
.a journey through flashbacks of how we all started out and the outcome, the video acts as a promotional work
.to allow them to know that we learn more than we expect in MOI, that we came in with literally nothing but are on the way to something now.
Secondly, we were given some links to view about documentaries and how to make a good one and stuff. I read some links and found it really useful, they contain essential stuffs to take note of. Some of them are:
. a documentary should have a significant lesson to be learned (in the case of our project, it would mean a objective to be brought across)
. Could others benefit by seeing the world through your eyes, watching you follow a particular person or group of people around as they do what they do (would the contents of our video actually benefits the students to answer their enquiry?)
. identify your eventual audience and keep them in mind as your documentary morphs toward its final form (student body and even parents)
.How do you want to approach your subject? (style, theme and even techniques)
.should be engaging and emotionally compelling
The above are just some general idea i have collated from a few sites given to us and I thought these would be useful to consider as we work on the project.
Moving on to what my group have done today. Basically, the group confirmed our idea for the video, the sound effects we want to add in and some software we would be using. Today was generally a in-depth to what we have discussed yesterday. We wanted to plan the schedule for group meetings and work but as Kirin wasn't around, we thought we could do it tomorrow so as to ensure we got the dates correctly and that she can follow-up with us, because we thought the schedule was essential for every one to be sure of. Theefore, we decided on the exact and in-depth flow of the video. For instance:
. the start would be a flashback (video), followed by other props we would be using after the warp to the past.
. the middle would have some camera and audio effects with photography and we wrote down excatly where and what to expect. the audio effect would be smth applicable and to our liking and defintely the target audience too.
. the individual part was left empty so that we could discuss with Kirin when she is bac tomorrow.
. we thought of adding a little twist of humor to the end which you guys would find out soon.
So, basically today is more about finialising the main details and improving some part. Hopefully, Kirin can join us tomorrow, then we will move on to the individual content and also the entire schedule.
hope every one have fun with P1 and i am looking foward to tomorrow, heard that we will be viewing some work for refernces, am sure it's going to help much with more improvments in our work! ((:
P.S: To my lovely grp members, keep going guys and BRUDDERS we will produce quality work yay! ((:
